Great piece of kit
I've had my On Time since July 2007 and of course read the reviews. The radio does work on any station(just read the instructions), you don't have to listen to the same song on your ipod each morning; just change the shuffle setting, the display is a bit bright but not that bad.My only gripe is you cannot set the volume when the alarm goes off as it steadily increases!!It can be very annoying.JBL are aware of this and don't see it as a problem - I do.

Good piece of kit!
Read the negative reviews but decided to buy anyway. So glad I did!! A great companion to my ipod (classic). Everything you could ever need from an alarm clock. The sound quality is impressive - I wasn't sure what to expect from a unit this size but was totally surprised by how crisp the sound it's ability to fill the room with deep, undistorted bass even at high volume. It's well built and easy to use. The snooze button is ideally located and large enough to actually find in a semi-conscious state (unlike many other ipod alarm clocks). You can wake up to any song from any playlist or just leave ipod on random play. The radio picks up all main stations with no problems.

Positives = Great sound with deep,strong bass. Easy to use and well laid out controls. Build Quality.

Negatives = Bright display (even at lowest setting). No remote.

Would recomend this product for anyone looking for an ipod alarm clock or a good sounding, compact ipod speaker dock.

JBL On Time literally rocks!
Well, I think the review title pretty muchspeaks for itself, the JBL on time is brillient, exceptionally good value for the money, perfect sound quality, chic stylish design and very user friendly.

I have to admit I was slightly put off by some of the negative comments posted about this product by other consumers. However, I decided to reserve judgement and order one. I have to say I do not understand what they were talking about as I have had no problems with my sleek and sexy looking device.

The dual alram settings are just as good as any radio alarm clock I've used in the past but with the added advantage of waking up to your favourite tune.

The back light can be adjusted accordingly depending on your desired level of brightness, it can even be turned off completely should it desturp you whilst in your little world of slumber.

I did look into a number of other similar products on the the market such as the Bose Wave but could not justify speanding in excess of £400, this is an all round very good alternative which will look and sound good in any home.

I would highly recommend this product.

Stylish and Functional
Bought one of these despite the large quantity of negative feedback on Amazon and was relieved when it lived up to my high expectations. I searched high and low for a docking station for my ipod that had a radio as well as the conventional ipod dock, there were very few to choose from.
Originally I bought the Pure Digital model which has a DAB radio but when I got this home and tried it the sound quality was very poor so it went back. JBL have an excellent reputation for high quality sound reproduction and when I heard this model in the shop it was by far and away the best I heard.
In response to other feedback:
The AM/FM radio works fine on mine, there is minimal interference and mine is located in my kitchen where there is a significant amount of electric cabling etc. The radio tunes in single digits now so no need to change setting for europe to get 97.9, 97.8 etc.
The only downsides I have found are the plastic adapters which you switch according to which ipod you have. My ipod is a nano and the adaptor for the nano doesn't fit my ipod so I have used one of the larger adapters which works fine.
As another review said supporting the back of the unit whilst changing tracks etc will stop damage to the connection between the two.
If you intend to use your JBL on time as a clock radio the backlight is very bright but locating mine in my kitchen this isn't a problem.
Apart from those minor drawbacks this is a fantastic piece of kit, you could confidently replace most mid range home stereos with one of these.

Utter junk do not buy!
Ok. being impressed by the chic style and look i bought this item, and fair enough the sound was terrific....... but. the reason i bought this and not any other was that i needed a alarm clock which would wake me with my fav song. which this white elephant cant do because i nhave a vid ipod. next it does not have a remote so u end having to use the ipods wheel.. and under 6 months worth of pressureon the contact thingy that fits into the ipod it broke... called up their service center and they will not fix it unless i have original reciept, which i do not gav. so thats £150quid down the plughole. what a load of utter trollop! anybody in their right mind do not buy!

CORPORATE THEFT
After buying a TomTom and updating the application on line, ALL the maps disappeared. I contacted TomTom Support and was told that I would have to BUY ALL the maps again. Yes ALL the maps that I had purchased with the device. This is THEFT. BE WARNED!!!!!

The work of The Devil
No criticism of Amazon. TomTom ? That's another matter. The unit works fine - until you connect to TomTom Home. The updates will render your unit an expensive paperweight. I can't recommend an alternative, but I emplore you to avoid this over-priced piece of junk.

Battery life lets it down
This is a decent Sat Nav and I've only ever had minor problems with the navigation or accuracy of its data and directions. It has got me from A to B with relatively little fuss and as such, I shouldn't complain.

However my only gripe, and why I've rated it 3 stars, is that the battery life is so short that I have to have it plugged in constantly. I would estimate that it lasts for 15-20 minutes max. I know other people with Tom Toms and they have encountered the same problem. Consequently, I have burnt out two adapters because they have overheated from long journeys.

As an aside from the unit itself, there are a number of websites that allow you to download free updates and voices etc., which has been useful for updating speed camera placement, for example. The official Tom Tom site itself is pretty flush with add-ons and extras, although you do have to pay a premium for these.

Great piece of kit so far
My first sat nav unit, took a little getting used to at the start but for the price it's got all you need. Makes a strange hissing noise when it starts but you can't really hear it once the engine is running. Brilliant reception hasn't guided me into any countryside fields just yet! Plenty of features online inc the map share feature and some other customisations after you upgrade to v8 software (Tomtom home is on the unit itself). Does have a problem of telling you to go left/right on straight roads that have a harsh turn which can be misleading. Seems to cope fairly well if you take a wrong turn, did once tell me to U-turn when I could have gone straight minor quirk I guess (which it recalculated rather well after a minute). Speed limits are sometimes wrong when going past small towns near dual carriageways and battery life is quite short. On the whole very happy!

Great bit of kit
I got this to assist at work, since I travel extensively. It has been an excellent piece of kit and I now wonder what I did without it! No, not infallible..... but gets you where you need to be 99% of the time, and near enough for the last 1%. Bye Bye A-Z!
